My name is Kimberly Dodson and I am a Certified Labor Doula, Postpartum Doula and Pregnancy Fitness Educator. I am also CPR trained.
I am a wife to an amazing husband and two beautiful children. I have experienced the joy of childbirth with my own children and loved how empowered I felt. I want to share that feeling of empowerment with others. I look forward to helping women have the best birth experience possible. I assist in all types of births and have experience with successful VBAC’s. My goal is to help women have the birth they desire and to give them the information they need to make educated choices throughout the pregnancy, birth and postpartum process.
I have always loved children and have worked with babies for over 20 years. After having my own children without the benefit of having family nearby, I realized how important support can be in those first few postpartum weeks. As a postpartum doula, I look forward to being that person to provide moms the physical and emotional support they need during that time.
I am also interested in fitness. After having my two children, I found that getting the baby weight off was not easy. I started attending the gym and found a love of running. I look forward to helping pregnant and postpartum moms be active and make healthy choices.
A few more things about me: I live in Statesville and serve the surrounding areas within about an hour drive. I am a substitute teacher working with elementary students. I have one fur baby who is really my third child, my Yorkie, Max.
Brenna is a labor and postpartum doula in Conover, NC. She is married to her high school sweetheart and they have two beautiful children, as well as two fur babies and four chickens. They live in the country together and are wannabe homesteaders.
Through the very different births of her own children and the loss of two babies, she learned the importance of being informed and supported during pregnancy and in the postpartum days. How these things not only affect birth, but also how they affect a mom’s view of her birth, herself and motherhood.
Brenna’s desire is to guide women through their journey, so that they can have confidence in their choices and their ability to birth and nurture their baby or babies.
No matter the birth, the circumstances or outcome, Brenna wishes to stand by your side offering evidence based- unbiased information, physical support such as comfort measures during labor and breastfeeding counselling, and emotional support as in encouragement and advocacy during pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period. As well as helping the mom’s partner and family grow together as they adjust to their new life.
Brenna is a trained labor and postpartum doula, currently working on her certification through CAPPA, she is First Aid and CPR certified and plans to continue her education in Lactation Counseling, Rebozo techniques, Hypnobirthing, Spinning Babies and Bereavement.
Hi, I’m Brenna! Since I can remember, birth has been something I have been surrounded by. I’ve grown up with pregnant women in my living room learning about their options and what to expect when they have they go into labor. It’s a comforting thing to be able to have a clear understanding of the birth process from an early age, but many women and their partners don’t have that. Birth and raising a child can be daunting, and it is my goal to make sure that all mothers have the opportunity to learn and make informed choices on what is best for them and their baby so it doesn’t have to be.
I’ve worked with children since before I was a teenager, helping baby sit and doing mothers helper work from a young age. Eventually, I became a Nanny myself and have had the privilege of working with several families over the years. Postpartum work is something I’m passionate about. It is so important that a mother is taken care of and never feels alone during this period in her life, and I want to help her and her family to adjust to their new addition in a way that fits them specifically.
I’m certified in both infant and adult CPR and first aid, with experience in meal planning and scheduling. I am receiving my Postpartum Doula certification through CAPPA, and plan to continue my education by becoming a new parent educator as well. When I am not working with families, I am a Graphic Design and Photographer who is passionate about creating a more beautiful world in little ways.
